LA Tech Athletic Communications
During the 2022 calendar year, the Louisiana Tech Athletics department has made a series of new hires within the senior staff leadership under the direction of VP and Director of Athletics Dr. Eric A. Wood.
Joining the department were Kyle Kavanaugh as Assistant A.D. for Strategic Communications, Ashley Brooks as Assistant A.D. for Ticket Sales and Service, Evan Dauterive as Associate A.D. for Sports Medicine and most recently Wyatt Olson as Assistant A.D. for Internal Operations.
“We are excited to have Kyle, Ashley, Evan, and Wyatt become a part of our LA Tech Family,” said Wood. “Each one of them has a strong passion for athletics, having either been collegiate student-athletes themselves or having several years of working in the athletic landscape. They have hit the ground running with an energy and enthusiasm that will benefit our Bulldogs and Lady Techsters.”
Kavanaugh serves as the primary media contact for soccer, women’s basketball, track and field, and cross country, coming on board earlier this year to help promote and publicize the Conference USA West Division champion Lady Techsters. The two-time LA Tech graduate, who was a member of the Band of Pride as well as a graduate assistant for the Bulldog Basketball team, spent the last 15 years as a coach and classroom educator with stints at Ruston High School, Cedar Creek School, and Simsboro High School where he won back-to-back state championships in boy’s basketball and a state runner-up finish in track and field.
Brooks joined the LA Tech team after spending the previous five years at ULM, first as a ticket accountant specialist and event management. She then served as ticket office manager for one year before becoming the director of ticket operations. Prior to working in collegiate athletics, Brooks was a health teacher and basketball/track and field assistant coach at West Monroe High School. She was a two-time Honorable Mention All-American and NCAA National qualifier (2015, 2016) in the javelin at Northwestern State where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degree.
Dauterive also came to LA Tech from ULM where he was the assistant athletic director for sports medicine. He spent one year with the Warhawks, directing the athletic training department and staff operations. Prior to his time in Monroe, he was at his alma mater Southern Miss (2019-22) as an assistant director of sports medicine and at Nicholls State (2015-19) as the head athletic trainer. Dauterive also spent time as the head athletic trainer at East Mississippi Community College (2011-15) and as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the Alabama (2009-11) where he received his master’s degree.
Olson comes to Ruston after having been at Sul Ross State since January of 2021 as the assistant athletic director for athletic compliance, serving as the game administrator for all 12 of their sports programs and leading all game operations of home sporting events. He was originally hired on at Howard Payne as a graduate assistant for marketing and game administration in the summer of 2019 where his role was expanded to marketing/engagement. Olson was a baseball student-athlete at both Indian Hills Community College and Niagara and has recently started working on his doctorate at Hardin-Simmons.
