Two arrested after nearly colliding with deputy

The occupants of a truck were arrested for drug and resisting charges after they nearly collided with a deputy’s patrol car Sunday.

Deputy J. Marshall of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office was on patrol Sunday afternoon when a pickup truck ran the stop sign on McDonald Avenue and almost collided with his patrol car.

After the truck was stopped, the driver, Cody Williams, 34, of Ruston, stated he was new in town and was unaware of the stop sign.

While Marshall was talking with the driver, Williams turned away and placed an object down the front of his pants. Williams was handcuffed and patted down and the deputy could feel the object inside the pants. When deputies attempted to retrieve the item, Williams forcibly pulled away. The recovered item was a lidded glass vial containing suspected methamphetamine.

A search of the truck recovered suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana along with a syringe in a bag on the front seat. Both Williams and his passenger, Aimee C. Creech, 35, of Ruston, denied ownership of the bag.

A records check showed the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office wanted Creech for failure to appear in court on charges of DWI and careless operation of a vehicle. No driver’s license or liability insurance was found for Williams.

While Creech was handcuffed in the rear seat of a patrol car while deputies continued their investigation, she slipped out the restraints and had attempted to dismantled the protective screen separating the front seat. She resisted efforts to handcuff her again.

Williams and Creech were booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer. Williams was additionally booked for running a stop sign, careless operation of a vehicle, no insurance, and no driver’s license.

Creech was also booked for simple escape, simple criminal damage to property, and the Ouachita Parish warrant.

Bail amounts were not available at press time.
