A new casual evening dining venue is preparing to open at Railway Coffee at 130 West Park Ave. soon.
Two entities sharing the same space is nothing new, as several businesses in Ruston have paired up in the past to share a facility.
Board & Bottle terms itself a place to “gather, graze, sip & share local and internationally sourced charcuterie, wines and beer in a relaxed atmosphere with good friends.”
A preview of Board & Bottle is scheduled during the Downtown Ruston Wine Walk on October 28. Board & Bottle will operate on a limited schedule for November and December and will be up to speed by January 2023.
Railway Coffee will continue to operate during the mornings and afternoons, turning over to Board & Bottle at 5.30 p.m.

Main Street programs around the country are competing to win the title of Great American Main Street. The nonprofit Main Street America has announced the top eight semifinalists for the 2023 award, including Ruston.
Ruston’s program was highlighted in an article published by Fox News last week.
The Great American Main Street Award recognizes outstanding Main Street communities that can serve as models for preservation-based district revitalization.
Ruston Main Street director Amy Stegall told Fox News, “The Main Street America’s four-point approach of economic vitality, promotion, organization and design have helped to guide our Main Street successes since we became accredited.”
First given in 1995, the award has recognized over 100 Main Streets in America.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behaviors–including physical, sexual, and psychological attacks as well as economic coercion–used by one intimate partner against another to gain or maintain power and control in the relationship. Batterers use of a range of tactics to frighten, terrorize, manipulate, hurt, humiliate, injure, and sometimes kill a current or former intimate partner. Domestic violence is a serious and widespread problem. Local law enforcement deals with it practically every day. Our Domestic Abuse Resistance Team (DART) has been raising awareness and funds this month. Support DART in whatever way you can. dartla.org
