Louisiana Tech women’s basketball players Keiunna Walker and Anna Larr Roberson were named to the 2022 Conference USA Preseason Team, as announced by the league office Thursday morning.
Walker was also tabbed as the conference Preseason Player of the Year, while the Techsters were selected to finish second in the preseason coaches’ poll.
Walker, a First-Team All-Conference performer last season, finished with an 18.9 ppg average while shooting 42.8 percent and currently sits at No. 27 on the Lady Techsters all-time scoring list with 1,403 points.
The senior guard became the 43rd member of the program’s 1,000-point club and registered the fourth triple-double in program history with a 27-point, 15-rebound, 10-assist night against Rice.
Walker also named to the C-USA All-Tournament Team.
Roberson, the local Ruston product, was also named to the preseason team after being named Second-Team All-Conference and to the C-USA All-Tournament team last season.
The 6-3 junior forward averaged 15.1 ppg and 8.5 rpg while posting nine double-doubles during the 2021-22 campaign.
Roberson also had a night to remember against Rice when she poured in 44 points on 20-28 shooting, good for the fifth-most points scored in a single game in Techsters’ history. Her 20 made field goals tied a program record that has stood since 1975.
The Lady Techsters return all five of last year’s starters and 10 letterwinners from a 21-12 season that saw them claim the 2022 Conference USA West Division title, made an appearance in the conference tournament title game, and earned an automatic bid to the WNIT.
The Lady Techsters will host a 15-game home slate including SEC East member Vanderbilt along with 10 Conference USA matchups. The season tips-off on Nov. 7 at 5:30 p.m. against Central Baptist as part of a double-header with the Bulldog Basketball team.
