Grambling State University Police apparently arrested one of its own Friday.
Booking records at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center indicate Rodney Thornton Williams, 59, of Shreveport, was arrested by GSU PD on a warrant alleging malfeasance in office.
Williams is listed in the online GSU staff directory as a GSU police officer.
According to Louisiana law, malfeasance is an offense by a public employee that occurs when the person (1) intentionally refuses or fails to perform any duty lawfully required of him; or (2) intentionally performs any such duty in an unlawful manner; or (3) knowingly permits any other public employee, under his authority, to intentionally refuse or fail to perform any duty lawfully required of him, or to perform any such duty in an unlawful manner; or (4) willfully and knowingly subjects any person to the deprivation of any right, privilege, or immunity secured or protected by the United States Constitution and laws, if serious bodily injury or death results.
The Lincoln Parish Journal could not obtain further information from GSU PD before press time. This article will be updated when details become available.
Bail was set at $1,500.
