For the second consecutive week, the Louisiana Tech women’s soccer team has picked up Conference Player of the Week honors.

After scoring two goals in a 2-1 conference win to hand UAB their first conference loss of the season on Sunday, Lauren Egbuloniu was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Egbuloniu, the sophomore forward, scored her first goal of the season in the 39′ to give the Techsters a 1-0 lead over UAB.

After the Blazers tied the match at 1-1, Egbuloniu added another goal in the 79′ to earn the second game-winner of her career. UAB had previously only conceded two goals during their 2022 conference slate. Egbuloniu doubled that total in one match.

The Cork, Ireland product has appeared in 14 matches this season making five starts. She has logged 629 minutes while totaling 13 shots. She is the third Techster to register a multi-goal game this season, along with Flavie Dube and Emma Jones.

Jones was named the conference’s Player of the Week last Tuesday after posting her own multi-goal match in a win at FAU. Egbuloniu and Jones are the first LA Tech teammates to win the award back-to-back weeks since Autumn Woodard and Amber Posthauer did so in 2019.

The honor is the first C-USA Player of the Week of Egbuloniu’s career.

LA Tech has won four matches in a row and are unbeaten in their last five. The Techsters wrapped up their 2022 home slate with a 5-2-2 record at The Mack and currently in fourth-place in the C-USA standings with a 5-2-2 conference mark.

The Lady Techsters will play their final regular season match this Saturday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. at the Soccer and Track & Field Stadium in Denton, Texas, before heading to Charlotte, N.C. for the Conference USA Championships. The match can be seen on ESPN+.
