Ruston Lady Bearcats land No. 18 seed in the playoffs

The playoff bracket for girls’ volleyball in Louisiana has been set, and the Ruston Bearcats have secured the 18th spot overall.

The team will travel south to take on No. 15 Terrebonne Tigers in a matchup against a team they have already faced twice this season in tournament play for a Wednesday matchup scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

“We have played Terrebonne twice this season already, and we have split with them,” Ruston head volleyball coach Lucie Hunt said. “They have some girls that are smart and can swing. We have to make sure our block is solid and we are transitioning well. We are hoping to run a quick offense and read their hitters better in defense. It should be a great match all the way around.”

Ruston’s first match against Terrebonne fell in the Bearcats’ favor in a two-set sweep in an early September tournament, while Terrebonne returned the favor in a later tournament.

The winner of Ruston/Terrebonne will face the winner of No. 2 Mt. Carmel and No. 31 Lafayette.
