A response by sheriff’s deputies to a disturbance call Monday led to the arrest of a woman on drug and disorderly conduct charges.
About 2 a.m. Monday morning, deputies of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a Martha Street residence near Simsboro regarding a man with a baseball bat chasing a woman.
Deputies found a woman on the front porch of the residence and then saw the man believed to be involved. The man approached a deputy quickly with the baseball bat. The deputy unholstered his Taser to get the man to drop the bat. The man was taken into custody.
The woman, who identified herself as S. Skinner, began picking up her possessions along the roadway. She stated she did not want the man to get in trouble; she just wanted deputies to follow her as she picked up her property along the street.
The man yelled to deputies that Skinner had methamphetamine on her. Without direction from deputies, Skinner then raised her shirt exposing herself to deputies and nearby residents. She was asked multiple times to cover herself. Deputies observed a package fall from Skinner’s upper chest. It was found to be a package containing suspected methamphetamine.
Scanner was placed under arrest and a search of the remainder of her belongings revealed a grinder for processing marijuana. The man’s mother arrived on scene and said she had previously told Skinner not to return to their residence.
The man told deputies Skinner became disturbed because he did not have anything to smoke. He said he then chased her away with the bat because she would not leave. The man was then released.
The suspected substance field tested positive for methamphetamine. Skinner was transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center where she was booked.
Deputies at the detention center stated Skinner was not the suspect’s correct name but that it was Brykesia Richard, 30, of Ruston. She was booked for obscenity, disturbing the peace, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, entering or remaining on premises after being provided forbidden (trespassing), and resisting an officer by providing false information.
