Funeral services for Mrs. Jacquelyn Bernadette Bennett, age 92 of Ruston, LA were held Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ruston with Father Kevin officiating.  Services will be under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Bernadette was born on September 10, 1930, to Wendell Samuel and Jean Marie Regina Airhart in Northwestern Minnesota, and died Tuesday the 24th of October 2022, following a short illness. 

 She is survived by several nephews and nieces.  Bernadette was preceded in death by husband Chester Lee Bennett, parents Wendell Samuel and Jean Marie Regina Airhart, sisters Lorraine Margorie Airhart Schantzen and Joan Nona Airhart Bergeron, and brothers Murry Charles Airhart, Terrance Daniel Airhart, and James Neil Airhart.

Bernadette and her husband, Chet, chose Ruston as their retirement home, and Bernadette supported her adopted home enthusiastically. She was a member of the Northern Louisiana Hospital Auxiliary, The Ruston Newcomers and Friends, Lincoln Parish TRIAD, St. Vincent de Paul Conference, The Art and Peach Festival, AARP Chapter 1534, and she volunteered as an usher at St. Thomas Aquinas.

Donations may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church or The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.  The family requests no flowers.
