A Monroe man was arrested Saturday night after he left the scene after being involved in a crash on Interstate 20.
Ruston Police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 20 westbound near exit 86 Saturday afternoon. Witnesses stated the suspect vehicle left the scene traveling west on I-20.
A witness called police and reported the suspect had pulled into a service station on La. Highway 33. An officer responded and saw a white Chrysler 300 with heavy frontend damage attempting to leave the station. The driver was stopped and identified as Tyrone Jackson, 53, of Monroe. Jackson gave conflicting stories to officers regarding the crash that differed dramatically from those of witnesses.
A witness stated Jackson had been traveling in excess of 100 miles an hour.
Field sobriety tests were conducted, and Jackson was placed under arrest. A breath test at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center indicated Jackson’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.161g%, more than twice the Louisiana legal limit.
Jackson was booked for driving while intoxicated, hit and run driving, and reckless operation of a vehicle.
