Louisiana Tech women’s basketball head coach Brooke Stoehr announced the addition of two student-athletes to the Lady Techsters program during the early signing period Wednesday morning.

LA Tech added prep guards Paris Guillory (Lake Charles, La./St. Louis Catholic) and Jianna Morris (Sherwood, Ark./Sylvan Hills HS).

“We are adding two quality young women to our family and couldn’t be more excited about what they will bring to the program on and off the court,” said Stoehr. “Jianna and Paris are tremendous competitors and students. With the graduation of Keiunna and Gabbie it was important to fill a need on the perimeter for scoring and creating for others. Both Jianna and Paris have a presence about them and an ability to make those around them better. They will be tremendous teammates and fit well with our current roster.”

Guillory, a 5’7 Lake Charles product, is a reigning back-to-back state champion with a combined 91-8 record over her high school career heading into her senior year.

“We are thrilled to welcome Paris to the Lady Techster family,” said Stoehr. “Paris is a tough, scoring guard and proven winner at St. Louis Catholic for Coach Tony Johnson. She will bring toughness to the perimeter and the ability to score it a high level as well as distribute to her teammates. Paris possesses special court vision and awareness. She will be a great fit within our team, campus and community.”

Guillory has earned All-District, All-Southwest Louisiana, and All-State honors, was named last season’s District MVP, and was the LHSAA State Championship MVP in 2021.

“Paris Guillory is one of the hardest working players that I have ever coached,” said St. Louis Catholic head coach Tony Johnson. “This biggest thing about Paris is that she’s a winner. In her three years in high so far she has only lost a total of eight games. Paris is also great in the classroom with a 3.57 grade point average. We are looking for her to have another great season here at SLC. La Tech is getting a winner.”

Guillory also has a state runner-up to her name from 2019-20 and has garnered several All-Tournament accolades. She plays AAU for the Lake City Pride and Coach Terrence Cahee.

“The family feel and environment reminds me of my home town and my own family,” said Guillory. “The team and coaches make me feel loved and welcomed. The campus is beautiful and I love all the facilities. Not only are the people at Louisiana Tech welcoming, but so is the surrounding community.”

Guillory averaged 18.6 points, 6.1 assists, and five steals per contest last season for St. Louis.

Morris is a 5-7 guard and three-time All-Conference and All-State performer out of Sherwood, Ark. for Coach Shelley Davis and Sylvan Hills High School.

“Jianna is the consummate point guard,” said Stoehr. “She is a tremendous leader and student of the game. She has the ability to create and facilitate for others and can score from all three levels. Jianna has a great feel for the game, plays with great energy and passion and has flourished under Coach Davis at Sylvan Hills. We are excited to officially welcome Jianna to the Lady Techster family and look forward to watching her grow as a leader in our program, on campus and in the community.”

Morris is a member of the Sylvan Hills’ 1,000-point club and is currently ranked as the No. 2 all-time scorer in program history.

She has earned invites to the John Lucan Top 160 Camp each of the last two seasons and also attended the John Wooten Top 150 Camp.

Last season, she was also named the Arkansas Female Athlete of the Week.

“I’m so excited that Jianna is heading to Louisiana Tech,” said head coach Shelley Davis. “This has never happened in my career, that one of my former players will be coaching one of my current players.  When coaching Coach Stoher in high school, I truly saw her love and commitment to Louisiana Tech. More importantly, her passion for the game and her character was like no other I have coached. Jianna is a perfect fit for this system and I am so excited to follow her progress. They are both classy young women. I think it is a perfect fit.”

Morris is a member of the National Honor Society and is the top-ranked student in her 2023 graduating class.

“I chose Louisiana Tech because I felt like this would be the perfect place for me to grow on and off the court,” said Morris. “The family atmosphere between the coaches and players when I was around them was a big part of me wanting to come here. I loved that I would be close to home and decided that this would be the best place for my future.”

Morris averaged 20 points, 5.4 rebounds, four assists, and 1.8 steals last season for Sylvan Hills.

Morris plays AAU for Bounce Nation out of Memphis for Coach Mark Hearns and has also lettered the last three seasons in softball.
