In investigating a possible reckless driver, the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office took a man and a juvenile into custody on various charges.
The Sheriff’s Office received a report Tuesday afternoon of a reckless driver in a gold van on Interstate 20 coming from Ouachita Parish. A vehicle matching the description was spotted by Deputy D Johnston around mile marker 61.
When the deputy approached the driver, he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. When the passenger said there was a firearm in the vehicle, the occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle. When the female passenger stepped out, Deputy Johnston saw her drop an item, then pick it up and place it in the passenger side door pocket while shielding it from the deputy’s view.
The search of the vehicle recovered suspected marijuana, a grinder containing marijuana, and various paraphernalia. The female was determined to be a juvenile and was turned over to deputies of the juvenile unit. The driver Justin C. West, 33, of Keithville was arrested on warrants from Caddo Parish for three counts of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and one count of domestic abuse battery. He was also booked for driving under suspension. West is being held for Caddo Parish authorities at the detention center.
