Man charged with assault with knife

Ruston Police arrested a 34-year-old man last Thursday after he threatened a woman with a knife.

Officers responded to an East Line Avenue home about 3:00 p.m. in response to a report of a disturbance between the resident and Christopher Beard. Beard had been previously banned from returning to the home.

The victim said Beard had been at the residence for approximately an hour when he grabbed a large knife out of a kitchen drawer and threatened her. The victim said she is handicapped and was afraid for her safety.

Beard had left the scene before officers arrived but he was spotted nearby and placed under arrest. He said he had gone to the home because he was wet and had nowhere else to go.

Beard was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for aggravated assault and criminal trespass.
