Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Jane Pipes, age 96 of Choudrant, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, January 3, 2023 at Longstraw Baptist Church in Choudrant with Rev. Larry Emory officiating. Burial will follow in the Longstraw Cemetery in Choudrant under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.
Ruby was born February 8, 1926 in Sterlington, LA to Alma Lee Smith and Grady Ray Hutson, and she passed away December 28, 2022 in Choudrant. She was employed as a personal executive secretary for many years for T.L. James and Co. Ruby loved her flower garden and loved birdwatching as well as tending to her birds. She enjoyed sewing and was an expert seamstress. Ruby made many of her children’s clothes. Every room in her house was decorated perfectly. She never went out unless she dressed perfectly. Ruby was a true southern belle. She loved her Lord, her church and her church family as much as she loved her own family. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Truman Pipes; Jay Vineyard; grandson Scott Willis; sister Helen Roberson; and brother Cornellius Hutson.
Ruby is survived by her children: Penny Ann Harris and fiancé Todd Clark of Choudrant, Don Neil Pipes of Franklin, LA and Carol Ann Perdue of West Monroe, LA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Kim Roberson and Allegiance Hospice as well as Nanette Vining, Martha Hunter and Gloria Relaford.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Skipper, Layne McNabb, Wayne McNabb, Chuck Mead, Steven Todd Clark and Josh Phillips. Honorary pallbearers are Ansel Winham and Wayne Roberson.
