CASA of NELA in search of advocates

Will you be the next #CASAman for 2023? Cody Albritton is our first #CASAman to highlight this year. Cody is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer who serves children in Northeast Louisiana. He and his wife Christina have three children and live in Monroe. When he isn’t busy as the Discipleship Pastor at North Monroe Baptist Church, he enjoys hunting and family time.

“CASA of NELA is better because of volunteers like Cody,” stated Holly Brown, Advocate Supervisor for CASA of Northeast Louisiana serving the 4th Judicial District. “He always strives to create relationships with the child’s teachers, doctors, foster family, and extended family members to better ensure that his CASA child’s needs are being met. He makes time to attend court hearings, family team meetings, and visits with the child monthly. Cody has a gentle personality that allows his CASA child to feel safe.”

Did you know that approximately 48% of the children in need of a CASA are male? Currently, less than 10% of CASA volunteers are men, and it is vitally important for these children to have positive male role models. In Northeast Louisiana, #CASAman was launched to help highlight the stories of men in local communities who are standing in the gap for boys in this region.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are volunteers appointed by a judge to help ensure that abused or neglected children in foster care are placed in a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible. Currently, CASA volunteers are urgently needed in our local regional areas: Monroe, Bastrop, Ruston, Tallulah, Winnsboro, and more. CASA of Northeast Louisiana is a division of The Center for Children and Families, Inc. in Monroe.

The Center is a nonprofit organization that provides hope in our communities through advocacy, counseling, education, and prevention. If you would like to learn more about how to serve children in foster care who need a CASA volunteer in your community, please email volunteer@standforhope.org or call the local office at (318) 398-0945.
