Simsboro traffic stop yields wanted man

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Winnsboro man Monday night after a traffic stop in Simsboro.

James Hollis, 32, was arrested after he was stopped on U. S. 80 for an equipment violation at about 11:30 p.m. A records check showed Hollis did not have a driver’s license and was wanted on bench warrants from Third District Court.

A 9mm pistol was found hidden in a driver’s door compartment during a search of the vehicle. A high-capacity magazine was found between the driver’s seat and the center console. A container with suspected synthetic marijuana residue was found on the center console.

A check of Hollis’s criminal history indicated he was a convicted felon with several prior felony arrests.

Hollis was arrested and taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. He was booked for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, no driver’s license, no headlight, and the three warrants for illegal possession of stolen things, no driver’s license and no seat belt.

Bail was set at $52,500.
