The Ruston Lincoln Convention & Visitors Bureau announced the 2022 Lincoln Parish Hospitality Award recipient is the Louisiana Tech College of Engineering and Science. The award was presented at the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet on Thursday, January 26, and accepted on behalf of the College of Engineering and Science by Heath Tims, Professor and COES Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies.
The College of Engineering and Science shows an explementary attitude of hospitality by opening their campus and classrooms to multiple groups of both college and high school students during the year. One of the college’s most recognized events was the ASCE International Concrete Canoe Competition hosted in the summer of 2022 during which the College of Engineering and Science invited participants to join the community in celebrating the 72nd Louisiana Peach Festival.
“The College of Engineering and Science team had an incredibly impactful year hosting events, conferences, competitions, and meetings,” said CVB President/CEO Amanda Quimby Carrier. “Their work at Louisiana Tech and within this community has contributed greatly to our organization’s mission to enhance our community and elevate a visitor’s experience, including that of long-term visitors – our university students.”
Other notable events include the annual Cyber Discovery Camp for high schoolers and the 2022 Regional Science Olympiad. The College of Engineering and Science also serves as the STEAM community throughout the nation.
“Our college is appreciative of being recognized,” says Tims. “We have a strong tradition of providing an outstanding environment for our students. It is exciting to be able to build upon the COES culture while also helping the local community.”
Tims also states that there are many individuals throughout our college that help to create the COES culture. Supporting our students and bringing in visitors is a benefit to the college, the university, and the community.
Since 1999, the Ruston Lincoln CVB has recognized members of the community who make a significant impact on our area and help fulfill the CVB’s mission by honoring them with the Lincoln Parish Hospitality Award. The Ruston Lincoln CVB is honored to present this year’s award to the College of Engineering and Science.
