A mother and her son were arrested on numerous drug charges early last Wednesday after a search warrant was executed at their Ruston home.
An investigation into drug sales led to the issuance of arrest warrants for Antijwon D. Mason, 28, and a search warrant for the Oakdale Street home occupied by Mason and his mother, Joycelyn F. Mason, 48.
During a search of the residence, approximately 160.8 grams of marijuana were found in a bedroom Antijwon Mason identified as his. A loaded Glock 17 9mm pistol was found under the bed’ mattress. Oxycodone and digital scales commonly used to weigh narcotics were also recovered.
Another approximately 11 grams of marijuana were discovered in pants identified as belonging to Joycelyn Mason. A unit of suspected MDMA (ecstasy) was found in Mason’s purse. She told investigators her son had given her the marijuana and another individual provided the MDMA.
Joycelyn Mason was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of MDMA, possession of marijuana, and two warrants for failure to appear in Ruston City Court for no driver’s license and expired inspection sticker. Her bail was set at $16,000.
Antijwon Mason was booked for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of oxycodone and illegal possession of a weapon for items found during the search, along with warrants accusing him of three counts of distribution of MDMA (ecstasy) and three counts of violation of the Controlled Substances Law (drug-free zone). His bail was set at $292,500.
