Despite trailing 9-0 early in the first quarter, No. 2 Ruston High School (27-3) stormed back for a 62-37 win over Evangel Friday to finish out the regular season in boys’ hoops.

“I’m very proud of the focus we shoed in closing out the season with a win,” Ruston head coach Ryan Bond said. “After trailed early, we regrouped and locked in defensively.

Senior Braylan McNeal punctuated his illustrious Bearcat career with a 10 point, 12 block performance that was only one rebound and two assists shy of a quadruple double.

Sophomore Aidan Anding led Ruston in scoring with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor, along with three steals. Junior Lonnie Dimmer added 13, while junior Zhy Scott scored 11.

Ruston now awaits official word of clinching the number two overall seed in the Non-Select Division I bracket, which will guarantee a first round bye.

Brackets will be released today.
