Gunfire leads to drug charges

A Ruston man was arrested early Monday morning on several drug charges after police responded to a report of gunfire in the area of Charlotte Avenue.

A responding officer spotted a man walking nearby at Duncan Park on Arlington Street after being informed the shooter was on foot. The man, Alijwon L. Mason, 26, was found to be wanted on three warrants held by the Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team.

Mason was arrested and searched. A black plastic bag found in his pants pocket contained suspected MDMA (ecstasy).

Mason was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for warrants for distribution of marijuana, distribution of MDMA, and violation of the drug-free zone law, and for possession of MDMA for the suspected ecstasy found on him.

Bail on the three warrants totaled $110,000.
