Adolf “Wes” Wesselhoeft

Adolf “Wes” Wesselhoeft passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus Friday, February 17, 2023, at his home with loved ones by his side.  Wes is preceded in death by his parents, Adolf H. and Anna Radtke Wesselhoeft; by his son, Karl; and by his loving guide dog, Blazer.

Left with cherished memories are his wife, Shirley; daughters, Becky Hutto and Heidi Van Iwarden; his stepchildren, Scott Harrison and Heather Spillers; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and his devoted guide dog, Nealy.

Wes served 22 years in the United States Air Force and is a Vietnam Veteran.  He was a 100% service-connected disabled Veteran having lost his vision as a result of Agent Orange exposure.  After retiring from the Air Force, Wes served 36 years as a Department of Energy Electrical Engineer.

In spite of being American born, being interned at the age of 6 as an “enemy alien” and subsequently traded into the war zone of Germany, Wes was a devoted patriot of the United States of America.

Funeral services for Adolf “Wes” Wesselhoeft Lt. Col. (Retired) USAF of Ruston, LA will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston.  Interment will be on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the Northwest Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery in Keithville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.  A visitation will be from 2:00 P.M until service time Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, 701 Kansas Lane, Monroe, LA 71203.
