Woman refusing to leave hospital arrested

A Monroe woman was arrested Saturday night after she allegedly refused to leave the Northern Louisiana Medical Center.

Ruston Police responded to the hospital after receiving a report the woman refused to leave the premises and was being verbally abusive to the staff.

Emergency room personnel told responding officers that Misty Rains, 48, had been treated and released but refused to leave. She reportedly yelled profanities at the staff and was asked to leave four or five times.

Officers found Rains in the waiting room and directed her to step outside three times. She screamed “no” and attempted to flee from officers into the women’s restroom. She was physically restrained and continued to scream and pull away from officers.

Rains was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for disturbing the peace and remaining on premises after being forbidden (trespassing).
