Man charged after state investigation of child pornography, abuse of animals

This mugshot was obtained by LPJ legally under the new state law that states that a photo may be released if the suspect is charged with sex offenses or cruelty to animals.

A Dubach man was arrested Tuesday following an investigation of possession of suspected child pornography.

Brandon Parker Brazzel, 21, was charged with three counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles under 13 and two counts of sexual abuse of animals.

The investigation began after authorities received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an individual in Lincoln Parish was in possession of child sexual abuse material. As the investigation progressed, a suspect was developed and identified.

The arrest was a result of a joint investigation involving the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation in the Office of the State Attorney General, the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office.

A LPSO spokesman said the department has a detective assigned as a task force member to assist the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation with cases of this type in the local area.

The spokesman said the Louisiana animal sexual abuse law covers a variety of situations from actual sexual contact to simply possession of images of another person engaged in illegal contact with an animal.

Brazzel was located at his McMullen Street residence and taken into custody. Following questioning, he was booked on arrest warrants on the listed charges at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
