
Members of the Bulldog Aquatic Club coached by Rocky Smith had athletes that competed at the Louisiana Spring 14 and Under State Championship Swim Meet in Baton Rouge in late February.
The fastest 14 and under swimmers in that state competed in age groups of 10 and under, 11-12, and 13-14.
“The athletes really competed well,” said Smith. “We were all excited by the individual and relay performances. These athletes have worked hard in preparation for this competition. I think their hard work definitely paid off. I look forward to watching these young athletes develop.”
Joseph Amiano tied for the high point award in the Boys 11-12 Division after winning the 50 butterfly, the 100 butterfly and the 50 freestyle and finishing as the runner-up in the 100 individual medley and the 200 individual medley.
Camdyn Napper won the 200 butterfly and the 200 breaststroke in the Boys 13-14 Division.
Amiano, Napper and JJ Hoover all earned all-state honors.
10 and Under Girls
Mikayla “MJ” Colvin (10): 10th in the 100 backstroke, 11th in the 50 butterfly, 9th in the 200 freestyle, 20th in the 100 freestyle, 8th in the 50 backstroke, and 17th in the 50 freestyle.
11-12 Girls
Amelia Constanza (12): 33rd in the 100 individual medley, 16th in the 100 backstroke, 16th in the 50 butterfly, 14th in the 100 butterfly, and 11th in the 50 freestyle.
Emily Xu (12): 37th in the 100 individual medley, 24th in the 50 butterfly 32nd in the 100 freestyle, 31st in the 50 breaststroke, and 18th in the 50 freestyle.
13-14 Girls
Bre Senn (13): 29th in the 50 freestyle.
The girls were 17th in the 400 freestyle relay and 17th in the 200 freestyle relay.
11-12 Boys
Joseph “G” Amiano (12): 2nd in the 100 individual medley, 1st in the 50 butterfly, 2nd in the 100 freestyle, 1st in the 100 butterfly, 2nd in the 200 individual, and 1st in the 50 freestyle.
Tristan Nassar (12): 15th in 50 breaststroke and 13th in the 50 freestyle.
13-14 Boys
John “JJ” Hoover (13): 6th in the 400 indivdiual medley, 2nd in the 200 butterfly, 10th in the 200 breaststroke, 3rd in the 100 butterfly, 9th in the 200 individual medley, and 9th in the 100 breaststroke.
Camdyn Napper (14): 2nd in the 400 individual medley, 1st in the 200 butterfly, 1st in the 200 breaststroke, 2nd in the 100 butterfly, 3rd in the 200 individual medley, and 3rd in the 100 breaststroke.
Paul St. Cyr (14) was a relay swimmer.
The boys’ relays were 10 in the 400 freestyle relay, 7th in the 400 medley relay, 8th in the 200 freestyle relay, and 7th in the 200 medley relay.
