A citizen’s call about an unattended car in his yard led to the arrest of a Houston man for auto theft Sunday morning.
A caller on La. Highway 563 reported waking up and finding the car in his yard. Once the dispatcher checked the license plate, it was determined the car had been reported stolen in Union Parish.
Another vehicle and a man were spotted nearby by responding Lincoln Parish deputies as well as a second man on foot. The vehicle was located again and stopped, and the two men questioned.
Talandis O. Cotton, Jr., 21, said the vehicle had run out of gas and belonged to his girlfriend who he argued with the previous night.
When the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted, Cotton was identified as the suspect in the theft. He was placed under arrest.
Cotton was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center pending transfer to Union Parish authorities.
