A Ruston man was arrested Saturday after he was stopped for an improper exhaust system and then refused to identify himself.
Brandon Lee Dover, 37, was stopped by a Louisiana State Police trooper at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. The trooper saw Dover pull up to the traffic light at Trenton St. and Alabama Avenue and then accelerate, producing extremely loud exhaust noise well above that of a normal factory exhaust, according to the trooper’s report.
Dover was stopped and when asked for his driver’s license, he refused to produce one or identify himself. After multiple attempts were made to obtain identification, Dover was directed to exit the vehicle, but he again refused.
Ruston Police were called to the scene and attempted to obtain the needed information. Dover once again refused to produce identification. At that point, the trooper and RPD informed him of his rights and told him again to exit the vehicle but he refused. Officers then opened the driver’s door, unbuckled Dover, and removed him from the vehicle and handcuffed him.
A reading of the tint on the driver’s window permitted light transmission of only 20%.
Dover was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for two counts of resisting an officer, improper modification of the exhaust system, and excessive window tint. Bail was set at $3,000.
