Aggies, Panthers, Tigers set for Thursday’s T&F state meets

Lincoln Preparatory School and Simsboro and Choudrant High Schools will all be represented as the Louisiana High School Athletics Associations conducts its Class 1A, Class B and Class C State Track and Field Championship Meets on Thursday at Bernie Moore Stadium on the LSU campus.

Under LHSAA regulations, regional meets qualify the top three athletes in each event at each of the three regional meets advance on to the state meet for a maximum of nine in each event at the state meet.  

Alternates may advance to the state meet if fewer than nine have qualified.

Lincoln Prep will be sending two athletes to the Class 1A state meet —  senior Cenario Wilson, who will compete in the Boys High Jump after finishing third at the regional meet, and senior Shedreana Green, who will compete in the Girls Shot Put after finishing second at the Region I, Class 1A meet held at Ouachita Christian High School  in Monroe on April 24.

Simsboro  turned in a strong showing at the Region 1, Class B meet held at Quitman High School on April 25 and will send a number of athletes to the state meet, including its 400-meter boys relay team, 800-meter boys relay team and its 1,600 boys relay team as well as all three of  its girls relay teams.

The Simsboro boys team is a defending Class B state champion.

All six of the Simsboro relays teams took first place at the recent regional meet.

Competing in individual categories for Choudrant at the state meet will be:

• Jailen Parker and Dee Moore in the Boys 100-meter dash

• Lane Fraiser in the Boys 200-meter dash

• Connor Thompson in the Boys 110-meter hurdles

• Trevor Trevillion and Payton Doss in the Boys discus

• Jadon Newton in the Boys shot put

• Kamryn Rhodes in the Girls 1,600-meter run

• Reese Brown in the Girls high jump

Competing in individual categories for Simsboro at the state will meet be:

• Kendrick Craig in the Boys 100-meter dash

• Jalen Outley in the Boys 200-meter dash

• Valley Reppo in the Boys 800-meter run

• Tristan Deloney in the Boys 1,600-meter run

• Trent Buggs in the 300-meter hurdles

• Gary Harris in the Boys discus

• Ikeia Brown in the Girls 100-meter dash; and the Girls 100-meter hurdles

• Lauryn Vernon in the Girls 200-meter dash; and the Girls long jump

• Jahkeria Abney in the Girls long jump

• Vashanti Sproulls in the Girls shot put

Taking first place finishes in the regional meets were:

•  Choudrant’s Jailen Parker in the Boys 100-meter dash

• Simsboro’s Jalen Outley in the Boys 200-meter dash

• Simsboro’s Gary Harris in the Boys discus

• Simsboro’s Ikeia Brown in the Girls 100-meter hurdles

• Simsboro’s Lauryn Vernon  in the Girls high jump
