The brothers of Sigma Nu Eta Zeta Fraternity at Louisiana Tech University presented MedCamps of Louisiana with $12,700 at their weekly meeting Tuesday.

These funds were raised during the month of April by current members soliciting donations from alumni members, friends and family members with the purpose of improving campers experience at MedCamps by improving the facilities at Camp Alabama in Choudrant.

“Over the years Sigma Nu has had many brothers work for MedCamps and help provide kids living with disabilities an unforgettable summer camp experience,” sai Adam Johnson, Philanthropy Chair at Sigma Nu.  “MedCamps is very special to our members and we wanted to go further and help make MedCamps even better for the campers for years to come.  We, the brothers of Eta Zeta,  hope to continue to serve the campers hands on as counselors and volunteers while continuing to improve the facilities by raising much needed funds.”

MedCamps of Louisiana is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and wellness of children living with chronic illnesses and disabilities through recreational and educational camping experiences.  This summer MedCamps will host nearly 500 children at their residential summer camps and provide these programs at no charge to the campers who attend.

“Because camp is free to all who attend, we must continue to rely upon the generosity of the community to fund our programs and help us improve our facilities each year,” said Caleb Seney, Executive Director of MedCamps. “The men of Sigma Nu Eta Zeta committed this year to helping us build an new fully accessible bridge at Camp Alabama.

“This bridge will tie our newly renovated Pool House to our new Amphitheater that is being constructed in partnership with Louisiana Tech University’s School of Design and their Design Build program Arch335. I really could not be prouder of the men of Sigma Nu Eta Zeta.  They set a goal, made a plan, and worked that plan hard.  All of it for the benefit of our campers.”
