Traffic stops lead to arrests

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two men in separate incidents Sunday after they were stopped for traffic violations.

About 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning, a deputy on patrol stopped a car with an inoperable headlight on U.S. 80 near Wesley Chapel Road. When the driver was approached, the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.

A record check showed the driver, Condrais Martin, 23, of Gilbert, was wanted on two warrants to failure to appear in Third District Court on marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges.

When Martin was searched, suspected marijuana was found in his pocket. He was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana—second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper headlights and the two warrants.

At 2:40 a.m., another deputy saw a car run the red light at East Kentucky Avenue and La. Highway 33. When contact was made with the driver, the deputy saw a small bag of marijuana on the passenger seat.

Decario Modest, 39, of Ruston, said the marijuana was his. A records check indicated Modest was wanted on four child support warrants and a bench warrant for failure to appear in court.

A search discovered suspected marijuana in Modest’s pocket and ecstasy tablets and suspected methamphetamine in a backpack.

Modest was booked at the detention center for running a traffic light, possession of marijuana, possession of ecstasy, possession of methamphetamine, and the warrants.

Bail was set at $12,000 on the drug charges.
