Couple arrested on charges of sexual abuse of juvenile

A Ruston couple has been arrested in connection with an investigation of molestation of a juvenile.

Lt. Matt Henderson of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office said on May 10, detectives began investigating claims of sexual abuse of a minor. “After gathering statements and conducting numerous interviews, our agency obtained arrest warrants for Jason N. Jones for 78 counts of molestation of a juvenile and four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile,” Henderson said.

Jason Neill Jones, 44, of Ruston, was arrested Thursday afternoon at the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was questioned by detectives and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. He is currently being held with bail set at $600,000.

Henderson said as the investigation progressed, it was discovered Jason Jones’ wife, Laura B. Jones, allegedly had become aware of the abuse several months ago and failed to report the crimes to authorities.

Laura B. Jones, 44, was arrested Friday morning on warrants as an accessory after the fact to each of her husband’s charges and one count of failure to report the commission of certain felonies. Bail was set at $250,000.

Henderson did not identify the victim.

The investigation into the matter is continuing by the Sheriff’s Office.
