Women arrested in beating of unconscious man

Two women were arrested Friday night after they were allegedly involved in a fight where a man was beaten into unconsciousness.

Ruston Police responded to a fight at the EZ Mart on South Farmerville Street about 9:40 p.m. Friday night. They found a man unconscious in the parking lot and rendered aid. Several female bystanders stated they did not want to be involved but provided cell phone video of the fight.

The video showed two women and two men punching and kicking the unconscious man with kicks to the head. Witnesses stated the man lost consciousness twice during the incident and cleanly could not defend himself.

Video from the store was also examined. The victim was seen standing next to the driver’s door of a SUV where the first male suspect was seated. The victim retrieved money and appeared to hand it to a female before the two female suspects pushed him out of the store camera view. Another camera angle showed the victim being pushed by the driver of the SUV after he exited the vehicle. The victim fell to the ground where he was beaten.

Officers located the two female suspects Ronita R. Parker, 28, and Charmus V. Sanders, 37, at a nearby Calvin Street residence. Parker and Sanders were arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for second degree battery.

Bail was set at $30,000 each.
