Louisiana Tech’s Jonathan Fincher and Ryan Harland were named to the 20023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for Baseball in an announcement made by the organization.

CSC annually recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.

Fincher graduated in the spring of 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry while having a cumulative GPA of 3.89. He is currently pursuing a second degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences in which he has a cumulative GPA of 3.92.

The Shreveport native is a two-time Academic All-American and now a three-time Academic All-District selection. He has also been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team twice in his career.

On the mound, the left-hander ranks in the top five in program history in career wins (27), innings pitched (317.0), and strikeouts (312).

Harland, who was a C-USA Academic Medalist and Commissioner’s Honor Roll recipient in 2022, earned his first Academic All-District award. He has a cumulative GPA of 3.56 while majoring in Exercise and Health Promotion.

The sophomore has appeared in 27 games (most on the team and 26th most in the country) primarily as a relief pitcher for the Bulldogs. He has 10 outings this season if pitching at one inning of shutout baseball.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 7.
