No. 6 seed Louisiana Tech will face No. 3 Charlotte to open up the 2023 Conference USA Baseball Championship in Houston, Texas on the campus of Rice University.
Tech (27-29) defeated UTSA 7-5 Saturday to close out its regular season.
The Bulldogs, who are the reigning C-USA Tournament champions, will face the 49ers in the first game of the tourney at Reckling Park, to be played Wednesday, May 24 at 9 a.m. CT on ESPN+.
This will be the fourth time LA Tech and Charlotte take on one another in the postseason. The two teams squared off in the first round last season with the Bulldogs winning, 4-0. They also met in 2017 and 2016.
LA Tech and Charlotte opened up conference play this season back in mid-March with the 49ers taking two of three from the Bulldogs in Ruston.
The Championship features the top eight teams in the regular season league play. The format is two double elimination brackets, with four teams each, with the winners of each bracket meeting in a single
elimination championship contest.
