Another day. More awards.
This time it was Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class B all-state honors for members of the Choudrant High School and Simsboro High School baseball and softball teams.
A few familiar names earned the prestigious honors for the Aggies, who advanced all the way to the state tournament after winning Class 2B title.
Landon Hennen and Bryce McGuire both earned first team all-state honors for coach Joel Antley’s Aggies while Kaden Bradshaw was named all-state honorable mention.
The trio spearheaded a talented Choudrant team that fell just short of capturing its third straight Non-Select School Division V state title, losing 4-3 to Anacoco in the state semifinals.

On the softball side of things, Choudrant was represented by Holly Bennett and Zoey Smith, who both earned first team LSWA all-state honors for head coach Wayne Antley’s Lady Aggies. Choudrant captured the Class 2B title and advanced all the way to the state tournament, falling just short in a loss to eventual state champion Converse in the state semifinals.
Simsboro was represented by Carlei Wheeler, who earned all-state honorable mention honors for the Lady Tigers.
J.C. Holt of Pitkin and Converse’s Chris Brumley were honored as the Class B Coaches of the Year after leading their teams to championships on the baseball and softball teams chosen by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Holden standout Taylor Douglas and Anacoco senior Reid Rodriguez were honored as the Class B Most Valuable Players.
