McKinney’s store burglarized Wednesday

Police are investigating the break-in of a popular outdoor specialty store in Ruston.

About 1:50 a.m. Wednesday morning, suspects burglarized the McKinney Outdoor Superstore on the I-20 North Service Road.

What appeared to be two men armed with a sledgehammer smashed out one of the front doors and entered the building. Surveillance video showed they carried out approximately eight STIHL® commercial grade saws.

The alarm was activated, and Ruston Police responded, but the burglars had already fled the scene when patrol officers arrived.

McKinney’s posted on social media that, “They were in and out of the store within a couple of minutes and police showed up extremely fast but unfortunately it was a matter of seconds too late. While investigating today we have learned that they have hit several stores this month and are targeting Stihl specifically.”

Ruston Police spokesman Chad Hamlin said, “We have very little information at this time. We know there are two suspects involved. Investigators are still reviewing security footage for any information/evidence and attempting to collect any additional footage that may be available from surrounding businesses.
