Woman arrested for assaulting family member

Ruston Police arrested a woman early last Friday morning after responding to a domestic disturbance between two family members.

Responding officers were told by a woman that her relative, Nickie N. Williams, 43, asked for money to purchase some crack cocaine. The woman refused to provide the cash and Williams allegedly began yelling and screaming. The woman said at one point during the argument, Williams placed her hand around her neck and strangled her. The woman said she attempted to fight Williams off, but she was backed into a corner and could not gain any leverage.

Williams allegedly took two house phones and her relative’s cell phone to her room. The woman said she had to walk down the street to call 911.

Williams told officers she had an argument with her relative and took the phones so the  police could not be called. She stated nothing physical happened during the argument. Williams was arrested for domestic abuse battery and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
