After leading Cedar Creek to another stellar season on the diamond, soon-to-be Division I softball student athletes Allie Furr and Lillian Soto both earned first team all-state honors from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA).

The Lady Cougar duo was joined by teammates Peyton Muse and Lizzie McAdams who were both named honorable mention all-state by the LSWA.

Furr, a Louisiana Tech signee who moved from outfield to shortstop for her senior season, batted .485 with 56 runs scored and 19 stolen bases for Cedar Creek, just one year after setting the program’s single season batting average record at .615.

Soto, a UL-Lafayette signee and first baseman, was Creek’s top power threat her senior season, hitting .463 with 12 home runs and 41 RBI for the Lady Cougars. She ended her career with 23 home runs despite missing freshman year due to Covid and sophomore year due to knee injury.

Muse was also instrumental in the Lady Cougars success. The Creek catcher hit .350 on the season with 38 RBI and was stellar behind the plate throughout the season.

McAdams earned her honorable mention for her contributions at the plate and in the circle. At the plate, McAdams hit .302 with 30 runs batted in.

Riverside Academy shortstop Camryn Loving was selected as a Class 1A outstanding player, helped her team win an LHSAA title.

Class 1A coach of the year honors went to St. Frederick’s Ronnie LaSuzzo, who led his team to the state semifinals.

Furr, Soto and Muse also earned all-state honors from the Louisiana Softball Coaches Association
