Ruston restauranteur and business owner Chris “Moose” Garriga today announced his candidacy for the Lincoln Parish Police Jury District 8 seat.
Noting the high and sustained level of business and residential growth occurring in Lincoln Parish, Garriga said he believes it is critical to re-establish a sound working relationship between the Parish and the City of Ruston, and to help rebuild the Police Jury’s reputation for transparent and accountable service.
“We have incredible growth and quality of life improvement opportunities in front of us in Lincoln Parish, and the Police Jury’s role in delivering on that potential has never been more important,” Garriga said.
“From the quality of our roads and bridges, to emergency services, and other elements of our local infrastructure, we need to have a Police Jury that is dedicated to meeting the essential needs of Lincoln Parish.”

Garriga, co-owner of The Log Cabin and Ponchatoula’s restaurants, and a partner in Hot 2 Cold Heating, Air Conditioning and Electrical, is a Loyola High School (Shreveport) and Louisiana Tech graduate, where he received his degree in construction engineering.
He served as the Treasurer, Vice Chair and Chairman of the Lincoln Parish Convention and Visitor’s Bureau for six years. He is a current member of the Board of Directors of Ruston Dixie Softball, and is a 20-year member of the Ruston chapter of Ducks Unlimited. Garriga is a dedicated supporter of local emergency responders, regularly hosting lunches and events for fire, police and EMS personnel, and sponsoring events and fundraisers at Med Camps.
Garriga said his key Police Jury concerns at this time are developing strong, cooperative relationships with local communities to identify and address infrastructure needs, such as trash pickup and management outside city limits, ensuring that roads and ditches are well-maintained, ensuring that Parish fire departments and emergency response personnel are well-equipped, trained and supported, and improving the condition of buildings and facilities the Police Jury oversees.
“This community, this Parish, has been very good to my family and me and if I am elected to the Police Jury, I will be your voice on important issues, and I will bring a strong personal commitment to act in your best interests at all times,” Garriga said. “I have a broad range of business experience, and I want to put that to work for the people of Lincoln Parish.”
The District 8 seat is currently held by Skip Russell.
