Ruston Police arrested a local man on numerous charges after responding to a call of a man with a gun last Tuesday afternoon.
Officers responded to the 200 block of West California Avenue and spotted a vehicle matching the suspect description leaving the area. The Ford Explorer refused to stop for officers and when it did, the driver bailed out and jumped a fence on East Line Avenue at Kirkland Street.
Brice Hill, 34, of Ruston, was captured quickly and taken into custody.
Officers found a loaded Remington .45 pistol under the driver’s seat in Hill’s vehicle matching the description a victim gave police. The woman told officers Hill had ordered her into the SUV and that she had just reported him for domestic abuse battery.
The search of Hill’s SUV discovered a cloth bag containing three glass smoking devices containing suspected methamphetamine residue.
Hill was booked for aggravated assault with a firearm, resisting an officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, criminal trespass, driving under suspension, possession of drug paraphernalia and an arrest warrant on a previous case of aggravated assault with a firearm.
Bail was set at $335,000.
