Former Tech football player shot, killed in Little Rock

Former Louisiana Tech football player Immanuel Turner, 26, was allegedly shot and killed early Wednesday morning according to reports by the Little Rock police.

Little Rock Police responded to a reported shooting at the Northwest Hills Apartments on Mara Lynn Road in west Little Rock around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to a preliminary police statement. Officers found Turner with apparent gunshot wounds.


Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services transported Turner to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Police detained a suspect at the scene. After questioning 20-year-old Halia Houston, police charged her with first degree murder on probable cause. No bond has been set.

Turner lettered for the Bulldogs from 2015 through 2018, playing in 45 games on the defensive line for Tech. The Magnolia, Arkansas, native saw action in 45 career games, totaling 58 tackles. He was a member of four straight bowl teams during his Bulldog career.

Little Rock media is reporting Turner’s death is the 23rd homicide in city in 2023 and the third in the past five days.
