A Super 1 Foods employee was arrested Thursday after allegedly stealing $21,000 in cash from the store over a period of several months.
Brooke E. Goleman, 38, of Dubach, was arrested by Ruston Police after an investigation by Brookshire’s asset protection unit. Super 1 is owned by Brookshire’s. Company officials told police Goleman had admitted to taking about $21,000.
Store officials said Goleman was apparently loading money on gift cards but then refunding the money but keeping the cards loaded. An asset protection official said Goleman would also ring up items like 12-packs of soft drinks, then perform a refund and pocket the cash.
Goleman did not make a statement at the time of her arrest. She was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for theft of property valued over $5,000.
Bail was set at $15,000.
