Stolen car recovered at Ruston hospital

A man was arrested August 18 after he allegedly drove a stolen car to Ruston for medical treatment.

Roston Police received information that a vehicle stolen in West Monroe might be in the area of the North Louisiana Medical Center. A patrol officer located the vehicle in the hospital parking lot occupied by Rashad A. Newton, 22, of West Monroe.

Newton told police the vehicle belonged to a friend, and he did not have permission to drive. Newton said he got tired of waiting on the friend to drive him to the hospital, so he took the vehicle and drove himself.

Newton was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of stolen property. Bail was set at $10,000.
