Police arrested a Homer man early Friday morning after he was found on the Grambling State University campus with a pistol.
About 1:00 a.m. Friday morning, Grambling Police and GSU Police were investigating a motorcyclist at the intersection of Main Street and Reed Street on the GSU campus. During the investigation, Dayvion R. Webb, 21, was asked if he was carrying anything in the backpack he was wearing. Webb said the backpack contained some jumper cables and a gun he said was “legal and registered.”

An officer asked for the bag since Webb had admitted he was in possession of a firearm on a school campus in violation of state law. A search of the backpack revealed a Glock 17 9mm pistol loaded with 17 rounds. Webb was arrested for possession of a firearm in a school zone and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
Webb said he was not a student at the university. His bail amount was not available at publication time.
