A Shreveport man was arrested Sunday after he ran from Grambling State University Police who were investigating his presence on the campus.
Zamarion Taglieri, 18, was among a group of males approached by officers on patrol about 11:00 p.m. Sunday night. The group had entered the campus without going through a checkpoint.
Taglieri was asked if he was a student and he replied he was trying to show proof on his cell phone, but could not connect to Wi-Fi. His answers about where he lived on campus were vague.
Due to a number of recent cases of arrested persons carrying contraband in backpacks on the campus, Taglieri was asked if he had anything in his. He gave consent to search the backpack, but when he mimed taking it off, he instead ran away. Two officers gave chase, commanding Taglieri to stop.
Taglieri ran through a wooded area and was apprehended, but the backpack was now open. Officers suspected he discarded something as he was running. The area was searched, but nothing was located due to the density of the woods.
Taglieri was arrested and booked for criminal trespass, resisting an officer, and unlawful disruption of the operation of a school.
