
Ruston Police arrested a man for domestic abuse last Tuesday after he allegedly battered a woman at a local apartment complex.
Damun Barfield, 47, of Ruston was arrested about 3:00 a.m. last Tuesday morning after officers responded to a report of domestic violence. A witness told officers a man battered a woman by grabbing her by the neck and dragging her upstairs into an apartment.
For 15 to 20 minutes, officers attempted to make contact with someone in the apartment. without any acknowledgment from anyone inside. Eventually, Barfield asked why he had to open the door. He continued to refuse to open the door for several minutes. Officers then breached a window of the residence and was able to see Barfield and the victim inside. The victim was directed out of the apartment and officers then entered and took Barfield into custody.
Barfield initially identified himself as Damon Malveux but an identification card giving his correct name was found.

The victim said Barfield was angry that she was visiting friends. She reported he came downstairs and grabbed her by the neck, forcing her back up to the upstairs apartment. She said she was able to hear police knocking but Barfield refused to allow her to answer the door. Minor injuries were noted on the victim’s neck.
Barfield was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for domestic abuse battery, false imprisonment, and resisting an officer by providing false information. He was later booked for. probation violation regarding a Calcasieu Parish simple burglary charge.
