Wanted man arrested on vehicle stop

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a wanted man Thursday after a deputy spotted him near Choudrant.

Stevon E. Tipton, 44, of Choudrant was spotted Thursday afternoon by a deputy who knew Tipton was wanted on a warrant from Third District Court.

When Tipton was stopped, he identified himself as Andy Douglas Tipton, denying possession of any identification. He was taken into custody while positive identification was made.

A records check showed Andy Tipton was wanted for failure to appear in court and that his driver’s license was suspended. Tipton was arrested. A few moments later, he told the deputy, “You know who I am.” When I asked what he meant, Tipton responded his name was Stevon.

Tipton was taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center where he was booked on the warrant for flight from an officer, resisting an officer by providing false information, no driver’s license, and a warrant from Ouachita Parish charging him with failure to appear in court on a charge of domestic abuse battery.
