Barbara was born in Shreveport, LA on May 2, 1953, to Doris Bointy Barham and Doyle Barham, Jr and passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 10, 2023, after a brief illness. Barbara was a two-time cancer survivor, and she believed in the power of prayer and lived her Christian faith daily.  She opened her heart and home to many of her family and friends, sharing meals during holiday gatherings or special family events.

Barbara was a member and descendant of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma.  She loved spending time with her extended Oklahoma families (Robert and Alice Littlechief family, Garfield Littlechief family, Bobby Hill family and the Bointy family) learning more about her heritage, culture and traditions.  She also loved to travel with her family to attend powwows and tribal gatherings. always making new friends and pleased to see old friends.  Barbara learned sewing, craftwork and the art of bead working from her grandmother, Alice Littleman and her mother, Doris.

Barbara was a graduate of Ruston High School and Vocational School in Farmerville.  She retired from Louisiana Tech University Library after 28 years of service.  She also previously worked in the Career Center at Louisiana Tech and prior to that at T.L. James & Co.  Barbara was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and taught 4th-6th grade Sunday School class for many years with her mother, Doris. She also served on the Kitchen and Social Committee overseeing meal planning for special events, holidays, or providing meals as a church ministry for grieving families during the loss of a loved one. Barbara loved mission work and was especially devoted to Native American missions and the Redstone Baptist Mission in Anadarko, OK.  She helped organize the gathering and delivery of Christmas gifts for the children each year at Redstone.

Barbara was the first-born grandchild on the “Barham-side” of her family, and she had a special bond with her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She also made sure her family stayed in touch and planned frequent family reunions and get-togethers on both sides of her family.  She will truly be missed by all.  Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Doyle Barham, Jr., and mother, Doris Bointy Barham, and infant sister, Alice Faye Barham.
