After returning to North Louisiana following a weekend in Cajun-country, the Ruston High Lady Bearcats swept a pair of opponents on Monday and Tuesday night, first over West Ouachita on the road and then back home Tuesday over West Monroe.
“I thought our girls played very well, and I was very proud of how we handled things,” Ruston High head coach Mandy Cauley said. “I thought our serving was much better. We utilized some subs today and didn’t miss a beat. That’s what we’re looking for right now: depth.”

Set one was close as the Lady Rebels trailed 14-12 before Ruston responded with a 11-2 run to close out the set and win 25-14.
The second set was never in doubt as Ruston used a mid-set 15-6 run to establish a commanding lead en route to a 25-11 victory. Same with the third set as Ruston won 25-9.
On Monday, the Lady Bearcats swept the Chiefs 25-16, 25-17, and 25-11.
Cauley also noted that the team has been on the road a lot during this early part of the season.
“I think two weekends on the road with these midweek matches have made us a little road weary and a little fatigued,” Cauley said. “We haven’t even practiced since last Wednesday, and we’re looking forward to a good practice (today). Our mindset is not to take midweek games for granted, but we’re really trying to focus in on next week at the Bearcat Brawl. We have some really tough competition coming to town, and I want us to clean things up so we execute and add some wins to the column that weekend.”
Ruston returns to action Thursday, Sept. 14, on the road at Loyola.
