Woman charged with plan to take drugs to parish jail

A Dubach woman was arrested after an investigation of a plan to introduce contraband into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center in Ruston.

Samantha D. Beasley, 36, was arrested Friday after an investigation by the Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team (LPNET) and detention center staff.

Beasley’s arrest affidavit indicated the staff learned inmate DeMarco Hendricks asked Beasley to throw some synthetic marijuana over the fence into the detention center. The warden asked LPNET to investigate further.

Agents went to Beasley’s house where she admitted marijuana was inside. Beasley took an agent to the marijuana who also observed a digital scale.

After her arrest, Beasley allegedly admitted smoking marijuana with a 16-year-old girl, information agents already knew. She also admitted speaking with Hendricks about the synthetic marijuana.

Beasley was booked for criminal conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution, attempted introduction of contraband into a penal institution, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, use of controlled substances in the presence of persons under 17, and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Her bail amount was not available at publication time.

Hendricks, 20, who is serving a two-year sentence at the detention center, was also booked for criminal conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution and attempted introduction of contraband into a penal institution.
