Driver found with drugs, suspended license arrested

Ruston Police arrested a motorist early Monday morning after drugs were found in his truck on a traffic stop.

Cody R. Williams, 35, of Eros, was stopped about 2 a.m. last Monday when an officer saw a pickup truck with no working brake lights. Williams was stopped on Louisiana Highway 33 and found to be driving while his license was suspended. The pickup had an expired inspection sticker and no liability insurance.

A drug dog alerted to a controlled substance in the truck and a search discovered a pill bottle with an obliterated label containing several pills.

The officer’s report indicated Williams was fidgety and argumentative during the stop.

Williams was arrested and booked for driving under suspension, possession of a legend drug, no brake lights, and expired inspection sticker. Bail was set at $3,500.
